A huge thank you to Jason Clay!
Tonight we had the pleasure of being hosted by Jason Clay, owner of Governor’s Restaurant & Bakery in Old Town, along with five additional locations across Maine. A wonderful meal was had by all of us, and we are so grateful for Jason welcoming us so warmly and being our guest speaker this evening.
In 2023, Jason took on the tremendous responsibility of acquiring this well-loved, family-owned business—carrying forward the legacy built by the Wadleigh family. He shared openly about the trials and tribulations of stepping into such a meaningful role, preserving the heart of Governor’s while guiding it into its next chapter.
Jason also emphasized the incredible employees who make Governor’s what it is. Many have been with the restaurant for more than 30 years, and their dedication, knowledge, and care are truly the heart of the organization.
As of May 2025, Jason is also the new owner of Anglers Restaurant in both the Searsport and Newport, Maine areas.
We are grateful for Jason’s leadership, the commitment of the team, and the way they continue to serve the community with passion and pride.
