At this week's meeting President Sandy unveiled our plan to Be a Gift to the World.  Click read more to see our specific goals!

President Sandy's Goals for the 2015-2016 year:

1. New member orientation program to help new members understand Rotary better and become a vital part of the club.  Our Membership Committee is already working on this so feel free to bring them your ideas.  Director Pat is happy to have all the help she can get to achieve this important goal.

2. Complete the Strategic Plan that has been in the works.

3. Sponsor an Interact Club at Old Town High School.  We are excited about this one!  We will need commitment from club members to function as the liaison, a faculty member to lead the group, and of course the kids.

4. Increase our contact with the UMaine Rotaract Club by visiting each others meetings more and joining in projects.

5. Increase club knowledge of Rotary through training.  We have already started this with our new club trainer PP Corina who will be enlightening us at the regular meetings with some informational tidbits.

6. Conduct a World Polio Day project.  This too is already in the works with Peter, Cole, and Pat (if her fall schedule allows) as committee members.  We will be involved in a Purple Pinky Project on World Polio Day, October 24th!  Dave Wight and Peter Bosse attended the first meeting.  The next meeting will be August 4th and all help is welcome for this important project.  It involves kids so it is bound to be fun!  More information will be coming soon.

7. Conduct an International Project!  This is a new, exciting adventure for our club.  The board has already initiated funding for this by earmarking seed money.  We are searching for a suitable project so if you have ideas or come across anything of interest, let a board member know asap so it can be explored.

8. Send two members to Rotary Leadership Institute.  This year's classes are scheduled for October 24th in Lewiston, Maine.  The club pays for your registration....all you have to do is drive there.  This is a great Rotary educational experience for members of all knowledge levels, so let President Sandy know if you are interested.

9. Send two candidates to RYLA.  The deadline for registration is August 29th and RYLA weekend will be September 18-20.  This is a fabulous opportunity for young people entering the workforce to learn leadership skills.  They do not have to be Rotarians....in fact we highly encourage non Rotarian candidates to introduce them to Rotary.  Let President Sandy know of any possible candidates ASAP.

10. Increase the percentage of club members enrolled in "My Rotary" to 50%.  Don't worry - this is easy, painless, and free.  My Rotary simply establishes your own personal login on the RI website allowing you to view lots of good information about your status, your club's status, and Rotary news items.  We will be having a short information session on this at a meeting soon and help is available, if needed, to walk you through the procedure.

11. Increase the per capita giving to the Annual Fund to $60.  We did very well last year reaching $52 per capita which was up from $38.  We are on a roll!

12. Have a net membership increase of 5.  Look around you at work, at church, at school, neighbors, friends, family members.  There is probably someone in your social circles who would benefit from and really enjoy being a part of this organization.  Just ask them to a meeting!

13. Defend our Turkey Cup title!  That club up north is gunning for the turkey and we are going to have to work hard to hang on to it, but we proved we can do it so let's get that coveted TURKEY!  Oh yeah.....we also want to earn the District Governors Citation and the RI Presidential Citation again this year.  It isn't really about the awards....it's about doing the things we really want to do anyway.  The awards just let us know we were successful.

So that is what president Sandy has thrown down for us and it is up to us to get there.  This is our club....it belongs to the members and everyone is valuable.  If you have any suggestions, ideas, or thoughts about anything we can do to make it better and stronger, tell a board member.  Better yet come to a board meeting and share!  All members are welcome at board meetings and are encouraged to come.  They aren't horrible, dry, icky meetings.  They are fun - really!
